@Thisiskeith1 Possibly... I don't think Jesus mentions what we should or shouldn't do through government. However, the church is dropping the ball. So anyone who believes they are defending Christian lifestyle by saying the church should meet social need and not government should make special note that the church is not doing it generally. Finally, it was Christians that started the ball rolling of social responsibility in government.

get on with peace and love.these guys would rather suffer for a dream than help real people.
my will is that religion fails big time.

Certainly helping those in need, is the life work of everyone. TPTB do not practice this principle and they are responsible for the poverty, war, much disease and the poor development of people. Our world is a dichotomy. Societies can be judged on how they deal with the helpless. Why then, do TPTB control the planet, in such a cruel and selfish and manipulative way? The answer is; they want rules for us and different rules for them. We feel compassion, we have a conscience and they don't.

@Thisiskeith1 yes, but government is a group of people. and to deny government the ability to help the poor, you deny PEOPLE the ability to do what god wants.

@kwonbbl actually, he was ordained by a church in west Philadelphia. I've met numerous leaders from his church that helped ordain the guy. Don't make up things.

I love it! When we get to heaven it will not be virgin birth agree, disagree? But rather what did you do unto the least of these?
Yes, Jesus said that we are to serve the poor as an expression of our love for Christ and for his glory! BUT He never says do so through the government, He says that is for the body of Christ to do so.

Tony is the consummate story teller - in good company with Jesus Christ. The problem is we denigrate the Christians who are struggling with how to live in this pluralistic, post modern, consumerist, society. The best Christians fail at living the normal Christian life. If we judge Jesus and the church based on the worst examples of Christian living then we are judging and Jesus said "Judge not that you be not judged."
Tony is says our treatment of the poor is the standard - this is only one.
