Jehovah's Witnesses Silentlambs March New York

This is the local coverage of the Silentlambs March in Brooklyn, New York on September 27,2002. Over 125 JW victims of abuse asked for a meeting with the Governing Body and were turned away and ignored. We brought stuffed lambs for each of the victims that could not be there to leave on the door step. WT officials said if we left them we would be charged with littering. Instead over 500 lambs were left in a park fence across the street as a reminder of those hurt by WT policy on abuse. Two hours later Bethel family members were seen stuffing the lambs in trash bags and being thrown away much like the lives of thousands of abuse survivors. The Silentlambs March proved that leadership of JWs do not care about abuse survivors.

For 29 years I was a part of this organization. For the first time I feel free and alive. I could relate countless stories of the children as well as adults that will be scared. I would love for the word to be spread and for people whom I love that are still trapped to escape the brain washing. I am thankful for the Silent Lambs Group and bless them in their effort to unmask the organization. All things happen for a reason

I'm a JW. i'm bleeding for the survivors & families. so glad Jehovah is dealing with this situation, cos if it were me, it'd get ugly. The unforgivable attitude shown by some in dealing with these sorts of matters makes my blood boil, but it doesn't mean we are all failures. 1000s keep doing the right thing. I'm JW for 26 years but I'm about to resign. So ashamed to be part of an autist org. that cover up such crimes. Witnesses don't alert the police because they don't want to bring 'reproach on Jehovah's Organization'. They also distrust police and everything outside of their organization. They keep everything hush hush, the atmosphere is tense and you really can't trust anyone. I'm so glad I realized it was all a lie.

This organization says one thing here to the public and a whole other thing to their followers inside. I've posted a link on my channel in the comments section to their article "advising" victims. With subheadings like "Repressed Memories" (their quotes, not mine) and Did it really happen? they are really discouraging victims from coming forward. This article would make any raped, molested, or abused person feel helpless and even crazy. Suffer so god can show you his strength? It's sickening!

First issue about JWs is the tremendous sexual shame their group promotes. Sex is dirty, sexuality is dirty, hidden, kept out of view except wonderful stories like Phineas (read it) or the crimes and punishments of the Old Testament. So this is a tremendous screen to prevent dealing healthfully with sexuality, gender, sexual interest or sexual expression. Behind that screen, the molestors can lurk and play and keep secrets.
