@Maroko4 I think everyone would rebuy cards they already have if they could then see it in real life on a holo field, during an actual hologram duel. Its either that or using your own old cards but then it would be a basic cardgame on a table.

It is possible to do so already, they just don't want because that would require them to reprint all cards to include microchip to detect it on board and people wouldn't want to rebuy cards they already have
