A recent segment of WLVT-TV's Tempo broadcast (www.wlvt.org) focuses on how the use of restorative practices is bringing about positive behavioral change among youths at Community Service Foundation's Buxmont Academy in Bethlehem, Pa, and neighboring Palisades High School. Offender rates at the alternative school have decreased by more than half; detentions and discipline referrals have dropped since restorative practices were initiated at the public school; and there has been an increase in student self-esteem and social values. The emerging social science, based on the idea of building relationships by fostering communication and trust, leads to students, teachers and staff working together to create a community of responsibility and accountability.
This is so inspiring. Truly amazing.... changes really can be made. I hope to help people just like this someday. Thanks for posting this vid...
