  • @BRAINSMASHERMAN Paul McStay is the sort of player who comes around once in a generation. There haven't been many who could be considered in his class throughout the entire history of Scottish football.

  • a pure talent-couldve left countless times -he stayed and toughed it out-only tb just shades it from paul, but what a player, and those that tried to compare b ferguson too him-jesus they were deluded-pauls,maw wouldve shown fergie how

  • He truly was the maestro. What a great player. I remember his pass that cut the rangers defence in two for Macavennies first goal in the 2-0 win at Parkhead 88. wiz a belter...

  • Top fuckin class ! That wee strike against us in 88 , shmokin ! Respect !

  • have to disagree with some of sparkybhoys comments when he mentions players around mcstay got worse like mcclair and mcavennie. well brian mcclair was top goal scorer for the hoops 4 years in a row and mcavennie scored many goals for celtic so i strongly do not agree there. but the other players you mentioned yes i agree.

  • some player petty he played in a losing team 90% of the time

  • There would be no celtic today if it wasn't for the maestro. He carried us,,. usually single handedly through 10 years as the players around him got progressively worse McClair > McAvennie>Cascarino>Biggins and the rest of the league's Hammer throwers spent their time attempting to remove his knees not giving a fuck how they played as long as he didn't.Wanted by half of Europe He choose to stay at parkhead because he was a real celtic man. Thank you paul. Tiochfaid ar la

  • went to same high school as me..Holy Cross in hamilton.Hail Hail

  • Well said mate, couldn't have put it better myself. I love Celtic more than anyone could believe, and I think Paul and the late Tommy Burns absolutely typify the modern Celtic. Two of the nicest and best guys anyone would meet in their puff. Celtic forever!!

  • I sat a few rows behind him, Willie and their dad at Hampden a couple of season ago. Magic!
