"Cocktails for Two" is a song from the Big Band era, written by Arthur Johnston and Sam Coslow. It debuted in the movie Murder at the Vanities (1934). The lyrics refer to the ending of Prohibition in the United States in 1933.

I perform it on my 2006 Talsma Tenor Ukulele - C tuning (high G).

  • @spoefish... thanks for listening and the good words. Yeah... Spike Jones kind of took ownership of the tune. It's still a great tune.

  • Thanks all. Cool chord progression eh? The uke is by a fellow Michigander - Dave Talsma. Google his name for his website.

  • Cool song, but Heisenberg is still a better chemist than you.

  • A truly exquisite chansonnette!

  • @spoefish1 Found it! There is a great version of the Spike Jones CFT on youtube, and I think you see how this would appeal to a kid: /watch?v=lvt4b_qwC_Q

  • I absolutely loved it - you really make it swing. Unfortunately, my dad first introduced me to the Spike Jones version when I was a kid (40's) and as soon as I hear the melody my brain shifts over to Spike's version and I await the crash-bang madness. I will have to see if I can dig up that version. And Gerald, please stick to your version.

  • AWESOME !!!

  • Fantastic playing, Gerald.

    Happy New Year.

  • Really fantastic - awesome!!!

  • Great song, and love the headstock on that uke - that's not MyaMoe, surely?
