A great duet with two amazing songwriters.
It's a really nice version of this beautiful song. Just listen and enjoy.

  • @tobwalt58 Dumping the load by being honest with them, with yourself, is so liberating. Isn't it? I admit my fault to whoever will listen. It's part of my penance. It's been a year, I have yet to release myself from this guilt. I am with you. There, with you.

  • such a gorgeous song...I never get tired of listening to this.

  • this song has absolutely nothing to do with townes van zandt. it's a lovesong, and steve earle surely wrote some good ones.one of my favorites.

  • I had only heard Emmylou's version by herself, and i love it dearly. But hearing Steve Earl sing it just makes me weep in that perfect empathetic but sorry for yourself way. It has to be one of the most honest, beautiful pieces of writing. I am recently separated due to my addictions and as i sit here drinking one too many pinots I stagger at the beauty that humans are capable of, this song is utterly stunning.

  • great music should always touch you and move you. this is the stuff.

  • One of my favorite singer song writers, and my ABSOLUTELY favorite vocalist... Emmylou, if possible, is getting better as she grows healthier, wealthier, and wiser.

She's a Effin' national treasure, no doubt about it! If we get to heaven, we'll hear her...everywhere.

  • too good !

  • Absolutely one of the best from these two people.

  • @ghostpine actually, townes died after surgery, but i don't imagine his yrs of substance abuse helped him out much. I've been a fan of Steve's for yrs and yrs. he never dropped a beat, not even when he was really, really dope sick. God bless him.

  • Wow. I never heard this before. This is so heartbreakingly beautiful. I love the chord changes.
