  • looked better with his natural hair

  • He's our baby so he looks beautiful to us either way. He had a severe case of hot spots so we had to keep his hair short in order to treat them fully. We've since let his hair grow back.

  • xico is beautiful! i remember those haircuts! my first kom was almost as patient as yours. actually, that's a big fat lie. it only took me a little while to actually cut her down but it was spaced out over the whole day, lol. after a while, we just shaved her down but kept the very top of her head corded and in pigtails.

  • How cute! I would love to see a picture. We started letting his cords grow back but we really liked the short haircut, I think we'll try what you did and just let the hair on his head grow.

  • What do the cords feel like? They look quite soft and he looked so different being so short.

  • they feel like felt, or rope

  • @smoochacha i have a female standard poodle who is partially corded. I just did her topknot and tail. she looks pretty awesome this way. Best of both worlds!

  • HOLY COW...NEVER EVER SHAVE THE HEAD OF AN ADULT KOMMONDOR!!!

You can, if he is used to it from puppy state. But if the first time is when he is adult never shave the cords from his head. He can be blinded by the sun...

  • I have a white dog who had sever brown tear staining....I used a product called Angel Eyes and they went totally away. You can get it at Amazon.com

  • He looked very grateful after the haircut. :) I think that was the first time he could scratch his own skin.

  • how did you keep his cords so clean!!??

  • pff where to start lol

  • After not having all that hair in his eyes, he won't like going back to the old style.

  • So that's what they look like underneath all that hair. Reminds me of when I had to shave down my poodle. She got so matted so I had to completely stripe her down, now she looks like a poodle again tho.

  • you are not supposed to cut the dreadlocks at the eye area because they can go blind. A komondor is used to have its fur hanging in front of its eyes; it gives protection against the sunlight. But when you cut the dreadlocks, the sudden rays of lights can easily destroy its eyes. Same thing is true for a puli (smaller dog with the same kind of coat)
