Pakistan has one of the highest rates of domestic violence in Asia.

Parliament recently passed laws aimed at improving the rights of women, but practical support for victims of domestic violence is rare but one group in Karachi is making a difference.

The country has now opened its Pakistan's first helpline for women seeking help for domestic violence.

Al Jazeera's Imtiaz Tyab reports from Karachi.

    Really?

    Are you kidding me?

This is a huge problem, "who cares" is a definitely inappropriate response. I doubt you would say that if a man threw acid upon your mother's, sister's or your own face leaving it burned, scared and damaged forever.

There are many other problems too but this is a huge one and I'm glad as a Pakistani woman that something is starting to be done about it.

  • @shahzadazulfiqar1 whatever you're trying to say, I think I can safely say I disagree with it.

Sounds like you are trying to rationalize or excuse violence against women. Either way you are presenting yourself as a bullshit artists.

Don't hit women. It's idiotic, backward, and barbaric.

And if you are the superstitious type, Allah also says keep your hands to yourself.

  • screw pakistan.... a country that hid osama bin laden

  • i dont care about domestic problems. they will remain with humanity till the end of times, much like how health problems will remain with humanity forever.

  • @meghasharmaJ1 LOL, no it does not include the indian sub-continent. Time for a geography lesson.

  • @pics4roisin The first teaching from Bhagavad-Gita is, that you are not the body, you are a spirit soul. So woman or man is only a temporary material body. All this argument about a peace of blood, flesh, urine and stool is a waste of time. The aim of Yoga is to link oneself to God and recover ones real spiritual body, which is neither man or woman. It is pure consciousness.

  • @guydecervens Uh I think the video said that in laws which includes mother in laws perpetrate domestic violence as well, all violence except in self defense is wrong.

  • @BhaktaRobin That's wonderful so women who are treated like shit in this life can look forward to being a man in the next thanks! I think women would rather have rights now, vs being on the equivalent of livestock. You are obviously not a woman if you think that way.

  • it is a very very shitty country!xd

  • What do a Paki and an Appendix have in common?

They're both not needed and can explode at any time.

  • @dell1940 Even before women gained rights, In the rest of the world, women had the right of wearing what they wish, Unlike Islamic Nations which always blame women for all their problems. The Western world was greatly inspired by Greek and Roman values where women were given a lot of freedom.

Only in Islam do you find a sick ideology that women are to be blamed for a guy getting "Horny", Islam does have this "Male Superiority" Complex which is the reason these women abuses happen.
