This is a quickly setup animation I made to test fluids in Blender 3D. I'm just getting started with it, but you can achieve some nice results rather easily.

This took about 30 minutes to setup and a day to render all 250 frames. I'm now working on a 1000 frame (40 second) version.

  • cool what resolution is that fluid?

  • Oh I forget, I think 150. I made another one with 200. It took 4 days just to do the bake. I'll have to upload that one.

  • Wow 4 days... i can't even be bothered waiting 4 hours.

  • I guess its all about perspective. Back in the early 90s, it used to take 1 hour just to render 1 frame of 1 red sphere on an Amiga. It was hard to be productive back then and I lost patience when I couldn't get the settings right. Now at least you can almost immediately see the results of material changes. And it doesn't take too long to do other things. Fluid simulation is just the latest thing that takes a lot of processing time.
