A very lucky escape indeed! And obviously a very exciting race.

@NickWood07 there is a huge differance between oval marshalling and road course marshalling. On a road course the marshals arrive on FOOT. You can't get to an oval accident on foot due to the nature of the circuits. I have done both sorts of marshalling in the UK including CART on oval (Rockingham) and road course (Brands Hatch) In motorsport the British marshals are widely regarded as the best in the world.

I think the rear of the car hittin the fence saved his life, via the engine block. If that was a front end it wouldve been an instant death.....

Dan Wheldon's crash circa 1975...

@jwandhistools I know, right. I'm 46 I remember his commentary.... BTW go see Senna if you have not yet done so. Cut and paste and Google for my observations:
30 SEPTEMBER 2011
KingCast congrats to Chris King: Senna delights with passion, saddens with politics and death.

@jwandhistools "Exciting".
Jackie Stewart could read the phone book, and it would be exiting.
