  • Dear enquirer,

Logic is vital of course, but logic cannot solve every problem: functioning as it does on a purely rational level. Humans are not entirely rational. We are also emotional, intuitive, and of course creative. Purely logical/rational thinking demands that we put aside part of our essential character and that we are in command of all the data, which is very rarely the case. Creative thinking allows us to go to places that pure logic would never allow.

  • i wanted to know the turkey story

  • The turkey story, which I stole from Nassim Taleb, is simply that for 300 hundred days or so the turkey thinks that the farmer is his friend and that life is good. Every morning the farmer gives him grain. One morning he comes out with an axe. Moral of the story: long periods of apparent stability are not a predictor of future stability. Witness the economic crisis or the sudden rise and/or fall of businesses, brands, people, nations etc..

  • why is creativity so important in the real world? my teachers have thought me in school that logic is the best way of thinking in order tp survive in this world.

    -thanks

  • "if it's a free range turkey" LOL

  • I've always created using both sides of my brain. Please tell us more!

  • I chatted recently to Simon Woodroffe (the Yo Sushi! guy from Dragons Den) about creative thinking and he told me it was often over-rated. Interesting coming from such a rock-star branding guy.

He said that sometimes we have no idea what to do. But if we only make 1% improvement every day, then after 100 days we may be 100% more sure of what is the 'right' thing to do. Ergo, creative thinking may not be an "a-ha", moment, it may be a much less glamorous process...
