Ah, they changed the name since I left NYC. I used to live a couple of blocks from the alley on 47th street. This was my home house.

@bigjew899 I don't know how it is for short people, but I need to bend my knees and I have very long arms.(I'm 6'1" BTW). In my case, I need to bend my knees because by doing that, I'm more balanced at the foul line. I broke my ankle 7 years ago and can't slide anymore as a result. If I stand completely straight from start to finish, I can't stay balanced because my ankle is(or was anyway) my slide foot. Bending my knees makes it easier for me to remain balanced.

I remember when they built Astoria Lanes. It used to be the Grand movie theater. I bowled there often with Dick Battista.

@masao1 RIP Dick Battista! This place used to be known as Laguardia Lanes, then it became Maric Lanes then they changed the name to Astoria Lanes.
