A bit of one of the great lines from the master, Jaco, with Joni Mitchell, live in '79. Not entirely note for note..

  • @jcsgroove - Thanks Jackie! :)

  • Joni & Jaco:

    Heijira (1976)

    Don Juan's reckless daughter (1977) feat.Wayne Shorter.

    Mingus (1979) feat. Wayne Shorter.

    Shadows & Lights (1980)

Great post Joao, too short as usual but still great ;)

  • @Fjord76 Thanks Greg! :)

    You're right! 3 studio albums not 2...

  • great feel m'dude! I didn't even know Jaco played for Joni Mitchell.

  • @ChicagoBassed Thank you Sharay! :) Coming from you it means a lot, believe me!

You should check the live album/dvd "Shadows and Lights", great band, Jaco as a sideman comping amazingly. He also recorded 2 studio albums for Joni. If you cannot find them send me a PM.

And thank you so much for your videos, I've learned a lot with them. And every time i see those church videos i still get blown away aha :)

  • As a bit of an aficionado of Jaco I can say do did a bloody good job sir, a bloody good job indeed!!

Now, the Dry Cleaner from Des Moins......

  • Was just jamming this today. One of my favorite Jaco performances. Very well done!

  • Nice! which kind of Fender is that?

  • god damn your badass

  • @5891jonathan That's just the way i see it you know, i must be one of the few musicians or music lovers considering Brecker as a "mere saxophonist". Composition and style-wise, Wayne's solo albums from the 60's simply redefined jazz music (not to mention his works with Miles and Weather Report or what he still does with his 4tet nowadays...saw 'em twice by the way...words can't describe)

  • @Fjord76

No, I see that distinction. Not weird at all.

  • @Fjord76

Joni had to "settle" for Michael Brecker! Wow!
