June 10, 2008: NS SD80MAC's 7209 (recently repainted) and 7205 (Conrail Quality) head back at the end of day onto the South Fork secondary on the wye at Maple St. 36A's helpers (NS SD40-2 3347 "CRQ" and NS SD40-2 3362) can be seen in the background as the train starts up. The horn on the 7209 is a Leslie RS-3L, rather over blowing giving it a harsher tone, but it still sounds okay. The SD80MAC's sound great, despite all the "spitting" (of excess moisture), afterall, it was about 95F (35C) degrees outside just after rain and the humidity was HORRIBLE!

  • SD80MAC, the DEFINITION of Conrail QUALITY. Awesome catch, ashame theres no more in Conrail Blue.

  • I miss Conrail alot, I cried on that faithful day in June 1999....

  • Not to many left. As of the August 25th 2011 there are 57 left. 20 Normal Conrail Blue, 28 Conrail quality, 1 Operation lifesaver, 8 LMS.

  • @EsPeSD40T I agree whole-heartedly with you. Awesome vid, but any Conrail unit looks like absolute shit painted grey, dark blue, or black. Way to go CSX and NS for ruining a perfectly good paint scheme and pulling the markers out, you mother fucking jag offs!!!!!!!!!! Neither one of you could hold a candle to what the real Big Blue could do. That horse would look better with feces smeared all over it, ESPECIALLY on a high hood!

  • @HECTORLIVESOUND no it is a V20-EMD 710

  • this machine had 20 cylinder caterpillar engine

  • sd80mac is rated on 5,000 horse power. with 20 cilinder and they only biulted about 30 to 32 diffrent local motives. i personaly thing that its new color dosnt look good on it, i liked it when it was blue and white

  • this is the best machine ever biult by gm

  • I love how 80Macs are used on road switchers lol

  • wat the hell. no red marker lights????? all the ex cr units look bad now. at least csx has left them on their ex cr units.
