hi, I was wondering if you think should restore a Stradivarius from 1723 which was in a museum?, its conditions are not so bad but has a couple of repairs that were made during the time the violin was there, I hope to respond :D

Hi friend. I just got a "Stradivarius 1727", which I guess must be a replica. I have no Idea where it was made or when. It is in rough conditions and I really want to get it repair/restored, but where I live there's no place they do that kind of work. So I guess I must ship it somewhere in the USA to get it done. Do you think that might be a good idea??

@silvania1989 That depends on how much you have invested in the instrument I guess. If this is an instrument that you will be playing on a lot, then it is worth getting fixed. Be cautious of shipping an instrument, make sure it is packaged properly and pay the extra for insurance!

Of course you should restore it! Violins like that can sound even better after a good repair, especially if it is a real Stradivarius. Be careful who you take the repair to in your area, make sure you take it to a real Luthier. Someone without the proper training could damage the instrument further instead of fixing it. Thank you!
