Nietzsche criticized his sister for marrying an anti-semite (she's the one who actually edited his work and added the anti-semitic elements) and spoke admiringly of jewish people, saying that centuries of persecution had turned them into the hardiest people of europe. at a time when everyone from dostoevsky to edgar allen poe described jews as sneaky and greedy, that's pretty fucking tolerant. his writings were so ambiguous that you could use them as justification for anything.
