this wasnt based on any game. it was just a spin off film. this movie is more like a sci-fi film. it lacked things like summons, magic, swords, as u would expect to see in a final fantasy game. this is just very different.

This Final Fantasy had nothing to do with the game.. I maen the graphics are super awsome.. but the plot a .. s**t . If you played Final Fantasy 7 you better watch FF7 Advent Children based on the game and way more awsome.

exactly right. it lacked things like black magic, summons, and stuff. but at that time, it must have been the first best CGI film ever. yes, do watch advent children. then play dirge of cerberus.

This trailer is excelent, probably one of the better ones ever but deffinatly the best for this film. Great post.

I'm sorry, but that Sci-Fi crap that I just saw was NOT final fantasy. Where are the gunblades? the buster swords? the materia? That didn't even look close to a final fantasy movie. It would probably have been a good movie if they just didn't call it Final Fantasy, but the slaughtered it. ADVENT CHILDREN FTW!!!

Jesus christ guys, for a game movie, go watch Advent Children, for something closer to FILM, watch The Spirits Within. The least Square can do in terms of film-making and storytelling is try something completely new and refreshing, whilst succeeding gracefully. And clearly, they did. This is an artistic masterpiece from Square.

The Final Fantasy series has always shared some aspects from other FF games. Chocobo's, style, jobs, nobuo. Just certain things made a ff game a part of the series. Man, if only square pictures gave that budget to the Advent Children team.
