Too many people do not respect Karpov. I am a Kasparov fan myself. But I saw Karpov give him a run for his money back in the '80's and 90's. It wasn't flashy chess in the style of Tal and that is why I think people don't have the interest. There can only be one world champ and the man he had to beat at that time WAS Karpov.

The legend in the chess history Anatoly Karpov. He is the best player man and i read his books. I wish if i could play like him.

Like it or not Karpov is a legend. To see him go down fighting, it yet another lesson that Karpov has taught us all. He is truly a great champion. What a loss for chess that Fischer and Karpov never played! Fischer was a great champion as well.
