Imagine being forced to leave what's familiar - your home and your loved ones. Imagine if your only hope of protection and safety was to get on a boat and risk your life. Imagine if to save your family, you had no choice but to say goodbye.

These are some of the terrible choices that asylum seekers are forced to make, but it is this human story that is constantly forgotten among the many myths and misconceptions in the asylum seeker debate.

  • @tubeyoube66 Seeking asylum - even by boat - is legal in Australia under international and domestic law (UN Refugee Convention and the Australian Migration Act 1956).

  • @BallBagsification . It is you and your racist attitudes that deserve no place in our egalitarian and fair society. You obviously have nothing positive to add to our society or culture apart from hateful comment, so perhaps it is better if you keep such vilification to yourself.

  • If they are not capable of making a better life for themselves on their own, why should they expect to have one at the expense of someone else's society?

All over Europe Muslims have "no go" zones that are so dangerous police won't enter. European women are gang raped on mass. White children are exploited in sex gangs. Europeans are discriminated against in their own nations forced to tolerate the intolerable.

  • @powerfullslade2 Do you honestly believe there's any reasonable chance of that happening? That a massive swell in refugee numbers would suddenly arrive without forewarning, be allowed to have working visas, then businesses would hire all these new arrivals in preference to English-speaking Australians with access to education and skills training, and no new jobs would be created by the population rise, with none of these people starting up their own businesses the way other migrants often do?

  • @ninjahobo3 This is typical anti australian rubbish put about by some migrants who have a thinly disguised sense of superiority over the locals. We aren't denying them anything other than the possibility of bringing their prejudices and wars into our land. They don't want to assimilate because they feel themselves to superior to Australians this has happened since the 1950s when the European immigrants arrived and also the poms.

  • @londonboi16 No paki- it was the English who forcibly exiled criminals and celtic people to Australia. They didn't take land from the aborigines the crown did. The aborigines have to take it up with the Crown.

  • @Ellaismiles Sure is government propaganda thought up by some advertising agency to lower wages and bring in consumers and tax payers to support the corporate elite and the government ponzi.

  • i definately agree with this "sad for them" shit, but think about this, what if their whole country comes over by boats, takes your jobs, changes our laws, takes over our whole country......then what? tell them to go back? its too late by that time, i believe if we shoot them as they arrive by boat, there will be no hastle, no politics, no racism. we just need to send the message out there that we will not take their shit to our country. we help then, and what do they do? riot and burn our stuff

  • "for those who come across the seas we've boundless plaines to share"

    LIES.

  • stupid racist people. Imagine that was you!

Look, I know there are issues with letting them in.

but have sympathy for god sake!

It should definitely not be illegal to ask for help and when they do it is our obligation to help these people.

they are not terrorists! why would a terrorist risk their lives like that?

they are people just like you and me who have experienced the worst.

    THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE.

  • @londonboi16 Oh look another Londoner that doesn't know his own history. What a surprise. He's probably a paki anyway.

  • funny all these comments of racist aussies....if i know my history, aren't you guys originally criminals from over-flowing prisons in the UK? then almost wiped out the original people with your savage ways? Of course it was those slimy asylum seekers how could i get it so wrong -_-
