Im not saying the video is bullshit. The video is very well made and i like the ideas. Im saying that downloading music wont make the music go away.

Urm mixed point - there are various factors

But the record industry is seriously just dying. Basically impossible to get signed as a new band, and old bands are leaving their labels.

Although Live Music has never seen stronger ticket sales.

Its not dying at all.These people just dont get stupidly rich by ripping people off.They used to sell music for way more than they needed to. All it did is stop most of us hearing the music we loved.The artists say they have a passion for their work and wish to share it with the world:Then why not share it?They claim to love their fans. Yeah because they give them loads of money.Not because the fans are loyal and love their music.I think its fair that the ilegal downloads have gotten out of hand

What I would've said about a year ago

My mate is trying to get into the music industry, but has no way of getting a contract, and he was talking to a producer who his dad is mates with who was telling him to give up trying to get a contract as the industry has lost so many sales in recent years - in part because of downloads

The record companies definitely didn't help themselves and made the whole thing worse in general, but music downloading has become a real issue for them

I do respect that. And agree they didnt help themselfs by charging extortionate prices, purely because they could. But I am currently in band and making it big would be a dream of mine. However, money should never be your main motivation for music. Also record labels will recognise a good band and will see that there is money to be made from gigs, t.v and festivals ect.

There is still money to be made, illegal downloads just means they have less opportunity to be greedy.
