There's a video of a Belgian reporter interviewing Charlize in Dutch and she can understand everything that he asks her and she answers in Afrikaans. I'm Dutch and it's super weird to hear her speak a language that is so similar to ours. Afrikaans is basically Dutch with a very heavy accent. You might compare it to British people speaking cockney. It's different, but everyone in England understands.

Very wierd....I´m from sweden and can understand almost everything she says, sounds like a bad dutch mixed with swedish

What you should keep in mind is that often a lot of parallel developments occur in languages. So not all similarities are due to direct contact. They could also have followed a similar development

route from a common starting point.
