Cellist Amit Peled and pianist Daniel del Pino play the spirited 2nd movement -- "Allegro Scherzando" -- of Rachmaninov's Sonata in G Minor for Cello and Piano, Opus 19. Founding cellist of the preeminent Beaux Arts Trio, Bernard Greenhouse describes them as, "The duo is utterly fabulous. Amit is one of the most gifted cellists of the new generation."

  • When musicians move around when they play, people say they're too dramatic; when they don't move around when they play, people say they're emotionless. Why not just enjoy the music and let the artist express him/herself the way he or she wishes? If the music makes him feel inclined to move a certain way, why shouldn't he?

  • This is a beautiful sonata. Cello and piano work great together. The piano part is not easy to play, and you can tell the cello player is not just playing with his instrument, but with his soul.

  • i mean that flying staccato, three times up bow and then down bow.

  • 나의 해석과는 다른부분도있지만 이사람이 가지고있는 음악세계도 난 마음에들어 .. 음악을잘아는사람들한태는 결코 삶이 무의미하지않아 한순간도

  • Interesting bowstroke at O:31 . I guess most cellits are used to play it on one bow?

  • it's horrible

I can't support this they don't listen each other, even themselves.....

  • dungdaya: what are you talking about?...

  • I think cellist is too egoistic.

Overall dynamic ws destroyed by his egoism.

Pianist from Spain plkays like an outsider.

This is not cello solo but duo.

If a pianist is really professor, I think he already knows it but...

  • I keep coming back to this video...

  • These pieces render me stupid and tearful. People, please stop claiming that he is "too dramatic". The greatest musicians all loved music, felt passionate about it whilst playing and weren't afraid to "make faces".

  • He's really really out of tune, can't anyone else hear it?

  • Amen to that! I was known as a "thrasher" during my performance career. I moved as the music moved me.....
