  • @ 49:25 in the video, Ghamidi saab said that 'eating with right hand is mandatory in shariyat while other actions are preferable but not mandatory'. Can anyone please elaborate why eating with right hand is mandatory?? as I know a good number of Muslims who eat with their left hand and they picked up this habit in their childhood while all other family members eat with right hand.

  • @laeeqahmed38 First as Ghamidi sahab said, the preference for right hand is a symbolic reminder of teh Qur'an's description that on the judgment day, the successful will be given their accounts in their right hand. So that establishes a general preference. However, when it comes to "eating", the use of right hand is justified based on explicit instructions of the prophet (peace be upon him) which are proven by the continuous word and action of the ummah (therefore a sunnah).

  • @laeeqahmed38 This further specificity of the eating with right hand makes it mandatory according to Ghamidi sb's interpretation of the sunnah and shariah.

  • @AssumeZero Narrated 'Umar bin Abi Salama: I was a boy under the care of Allah's Apostle and my hand used to go around the dish while I was eating. So Allah's Apostle said to me, 'O boy! Mention the Name of Allah and eat with your right hand, and eat of the dish what is nearer to you." Since then I have applied those instructions when eating.

  • @AssumeZero Narrated Anas bin Malik: A tailor invited Allah's Apostle to a meal which he had prepared. I went along with Allah's Apostle and saw him seeking to eat the pieces of gourd from the various sides of the dish. Since that day I have liked to eat gourd. 'Umar bin Abi Salama said: The Prophet, said to me, "Eat with your right hand."

  • @AssumeZero Furthermore, according to Ghamidi sahab's research this is also proven by the continuous action of the prohpet's (saw) companions. Sorry I unaware of more details than that.
