This is my attempt at powering a standard pencil sharpener, with a Jensen 75 model steam engine.. Through countless hours, and and at least six different gear ratio's nothing but unsharpened pencils.
I just don't recall pencil sharpeners turnig that hard in grade school. (Although that has been fortysome years ago).Maybe it is due to the fact that the sharpener is brand new,I shall mount it on the wall and comence to sharpen a hundred or so pencils by hand, and perhaps try again. No pencil sharpeners, or Jensen steam Engines were permenantly altered for this video!

  • Use a far lower gear with chains and toothed gears.

  • Watched your Video. SUGGESTION. Move the SHARPENER further away from the belt shaft. REASON: Belt is not tight enough.

  • frictions the only problem you got. use some actuall gears that cant slip and you should be fine
