An Air Force which has reasons to be proud of its history. It trained and equipped the first US pilots during WW1. In 1939-1940, in spite of inferior technology, it shot down some 1,000 German aircrafts and captured 700 German airmen — which seriously handicapped the Luftwaffe for the following battle of Britain. French pilots fought with the RAF, and later supported the invasions of Italy, Normandy and Provence. They trained and assisted Israeli pilots who won over Arab agressors.
