    That's because the camera is sticking out and is closer to the mirrors than his eyes are, because of that angle, the mirrors now look more towards the ground than the actual horizon.

    Actually that's because the camera is sticking out, because of the fact that the camera is closer to the mirrors than his actual eyes, it means that the angle is different towards the mirrors, thus the view of the mirrors is lower towards the ground than towards the actual horizon.
