Sarasota Police Department Chief Mikel Hollaway - Part 2

Chief Hollaway talks about his childhood in Sarasota and what drew him to become part of the SPD family after studying business management at Florida State University. The Chief talks frankly about rising through the ranks of SPD to become the department's first African-American sergeant, lieutenant, captain and now interim chief. He also discusses how an expanded community policing program will build trust between officers and citizens while lowering the crime rate.

Chief Hollaway is a 28 year police veteran who has handled a wide range of responsibilities. His duties have included training new officers, supervising the Internal Affairs Division, overseeing the Patrol Division and as an Administrative Captain, handling public information requests as well as many other tasks.
