This is an item I built about seven years ago. It's a 1934 vintage Twinplex, a regen set from one
of Gernsback's many radio publications. It uses a type 19 tube, and its chassis is a bent piece of
sheet metal.

I saw a drawing of these sets in a Lindsay Publications advertisement, and I always liked how that tube
was mounted sideways on the chassis.

Later, Lindsay published a small book on constructing one, and I decided to try my hand at building it.

I used as many vintage-looking parts as I could, from porcelain stand-offs to cloth-covered wiring. I
even made repro Sprague capacitor labels (something I'll need to redo).

Aside from a bug in the tuning system, it works great. I can easily pick up ham operators and other shortwave
stations with ease.

  • can u make a video of it running?

  • @DRNEGOLICIS Gotta build some batteries for it, then I will.

  • what u mean as in it binds

  • The capacitor mounts are not level, so when you turn the tuning knob, the cap spindle gets stuck. I've got to adjust it to where it doesn't stick...or "bind."
