Home video footage of the 1961 Indianapolis 500, won by AJ Foyt. The video was originally shot on 8 mm. Highlights include, pre-race ceremonies, Ray Harroun driving the Marmon Wasp as celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first 500, along with the start of the race and the end of the race celebration lap with AJ Foyt and the pace car. There is no sound obviously. but this is a rare never before seen video. Enjoy!
I went in 2007. It rained and the race was cut short. The reason I like this video is because it shows the 1961 T - Bird pace car. My parents had a 61 TBird coupe. The museum at the track is awesome. I'd love to go again someday.

That's the tree my father and uncle sat under when they filmed a 1950's Indy 500. I hope to get that posted soon. Their 1963 film is on my page. Thanks for sharing this great film!
