Brett and Ellen review "For Colored Girls," filmmaker Tyler Perry's adaptation of a lauded 1975 play starring Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Thandie Newton and Phylicia Rashad as an interrelated group of women in Harlem. Neither Brett nor Ellen have much love for this high profile project.

  • I LOVED FOR COLORED GIRLS!!!! Some people are offended by the truth... If there are women in this world whose lives gravitate toward these situations, why not portray it in a movie?

  • YOU TWO ARE STUPID AND DUMB AND YOUR WORDS HAVE LESS VALUE THAN A DOLLAR WITH A HOLE IN IT!!!! FOR COLORED GIRLS WAS A WONDERFUL MOVIE!!!! SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!

  • The review of this movie is EXACTLY why "For Colored Girls" is so poignant! I'm 99% positive neither reviewer read Shange's play yet kept referring to it as some sort of litmus test to compare the movie to. I mockingly laughed when the reviewer said the women "just wallowed and could've shown strength". And the reference to 4 actresses who weren't in Precious was seriously a "WTF did she just say and where does she live" moment. On a scale of 1 through 10, these reviewers get a negative -2!

  • Whatever Rotten Tomatoes!

  • this was a wonderful movie and clearly you probably dont understand because you are not black ! and you dont go through as much as us black people do ! so cut the crap you guys have bullshit feed back !

  • GUYS DONT LISTEN TO THESE RACIST ASSHOLES SAYIN IT WAS GHETTO, IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE, BEAUTIFUL EMOTIONAL, AND GETS TO YOU, THIS MOIVE WON MANY AWARDS, AND EVERY ACTRESS WAS ON POINT, WHOOPI WAS VERY INTRESTING CHARACTER AND PHYLICIA WAS GREAT WITH HER POWERFUL WORDS AND THE SLUT GIRL WAS FUNNY, THIS MOVIE OFFERS LAUGHTER AND TEARS, 2 THUMBS UP!

  • @DTTV1416 janet wasnt given much of a big part

  • What are they talking about . . . Janet was weak.

  • @sonicjrjr14 I do to. But I still think That this review should have been done by blacks

  • @GILakaGP3 I'm black and I hated this movie

  • Rotten Tomatoes needs to get some black Reviewers. Not saying that black Reviewers would have made this review any better but the movie was not for white ppl to like. It's called For Colored Girls not For White Women. So even if the movie was good White ppl still are not going to get it. So Get Black Reviewers to review black movies add A black reviewer.

  • Notice... both are people who don't live this kind life and may not know people who live through what these women live through. Pisses me off... this review. But they are entitled to their opinion. i normally like Rotten Tomatoes but in this instance they are being insensitive.
