Model railroad table hoist built in 2004 to raise a nearly 6 by 12 foot model railroad layout in my garage. The purpose was to allow full use of the garage for both building a model railroad and parking a car. The layout as built weighed about 200 pounds, recent addition of plaster scenery has brought the total weight to close to 260 pounds. The counterweights allow the railroad to be raised or lowered with nothing more than an 18 volt cordless drill. This hoist has served reliability and well for several years safely lifting the layout and trains.
