An example of disjunction elimination. Think of it this way. I have a round object in a paper lunch bag. I tell you that it is either an apple or an orange. You know that if it is an apple, it is a fruit. You also know that if it is an orange, it is a fruit. Prove that it is a fruit. This rule demonstrates this line of reasoning. We try assuming first that it is an apple, then that it is an orange. Either way, we arrive at the conclusion that it is a fruit. Thus, we conclude there is a fruit in the bag.
