NIXON TAPES: Have Fun & "Drink It Up" in Europe (Richardson)

President Richard Nixon talks with cabinet member Elliot Richardson to wish him well on his upcoming trip to Europe. Nixon wants Richardson to take time off to have fun and "drink it up" while in Europe. He suggests that Richardson take his wife to Paris, but that if Richardson were going "just as a man" he should go to Rome instead "for other reasons."

Richardson would later resign as Attorney General in what became known as the "Saturday Night Massacre," when Nixon ordered him to fire the Watergate Special Prosecutor, Archibald Cox.
