    There's nothing I hate more than the "we shouldn't make taxpayers pay for a space program" argument. I would MUCH rather spend tax dollars on a productive space program than I would on fruitless wars and senseless murder.

    I thought Mars One plans to send unmanned probes to Mars in 2016, not humans to the moon.

    Either way, these are not things that haven't been done.

    You can only use this example to prove your point when they successfully send humans to Mars before any government space agency do.

    I disagree, but i see your point. i think you are wrong that private companies cannot innovate. The airplane and lightbulb were done without tax dollars. While in science it is rare (not as it was before.)

    There is actually a Dutch Nonprofit called Mars one. that plans to send a man to the moon in 2016

    They are not going to mars. they are not going any where new just to low earth orbit. They simply don't have the resources to innovate on a large scale. Private companies are great at perfecting and reducing cost of already existing technologies but not at doing something crazy/stupid/awesome that leads to innovation.
