US says capture of Kilinochchi will hasten end to conflict
The United States is confident that the fall of Kilinochchi will hasten the end of the national conflict in Sri Lanka.
As such, the US Embassy in Colombo said there is no need to have talks with the LTTE. The war which has gripped the island for more than 25 years is drawing to an end. Particularly the liberation of Kilinochchi an LTTE stronghold can be considered as the final phase in the war. The Sri Lankan government is engaged in an effort to find a peaceful solution to the conflict. The US Embassy in a special statement said it is confident that a political solution will be found with the operations drawing to close. US is optimistic that all communities will receive the opportunity of living in a peaceful environment.
