I remember that. Tennis was so popular in the 80's in France that it was possible to re-see the match at night on Tv but without the commentators. Was pleasant indeed :-)

more don't forget that not only wimblendon, but also us open (until 75) and australian open (until 87) were played on grass. not evert favourite surface

Evert would have won 9 or 10 French Opens if she had played the tournament instead of World Team Tennis in 1976-1978. At the time it was the thing to do but in retrospect just stupid.

Chris was really incredible on clay, her 7 year undefeated run on clay speaks for itself. I have the feeling that her record 7 French open titles will stand forever. One of the greatest tennis minds ever, a true champion, who combined style and elegance with beautifully constructed shot making. A great sport on/off the court. The Evert/Navratilova rivalry has to go down in the record books as the greatest sporting rivalry in my opinion. These were the good old days when womens tennis ruled!

Chris has a great tennis mind and was very clever on court thats why she beat martina more times than other other woman! great match chris won and did beat her again the next year more easily.
