    Yes, there are people living inside most of these buildings. It was built when the sea was calm, there are not always storms. It's just normal for a sailor's country.

    And that is a mighty fine question indeed. I have to say, whoever built these, certainly knew what they were doing and they did it right. These structures are pummeled relentlessly by the surf, day after day, and yet they stand strong. A beacon in the night.....in all their glory.
