This is a 13 minute cine film split into 2 (this is 1 of 2) of the time when Hipper Primary School in Chesterfield was being closed down and moved to Hady. It was filmed as I said using cine film; moved onto vhs in the early 90's and then again onto dvd by myself in 2006. The music was added by the company who originally converted it onto vhs.
Thanks for watching.

  • It was a terrible shame what happened to Mr Platts in the end. A great chap and teacher also.

  • This made me cry! Such beautiful innocence.

  • I find the music that the shop used when doing the conversion from cine to vhs makes the difference to what would I no doubt have been a silent one otherwise.

  • No I don't to be honest. Have you tried playing the video then holding your mobile to the speaker and dialing 2580 (Shazam)? This may tell you. Other than that I don't know sorry.

  • Pleasure. Did your mum move with Mr Holmes up to Hady then? What was her name?

  • Thanks for the comment and rating. Please feel free to pass on the url to anyone you may know would like to see this.

  • That is amazing.

I was at Hipper until we moved to Hady and sang in the choir at the official opening.

I was in Mr Watkinsons class to start with and then with Mr Platts.

Preferred the old school to the new one personally.

    Thanks for sharing this.

  • Pretty sure that I'm at 05:37 9th in line second column. It was normal practice to stand still when whistle was blown, then line up on second whistle, file in when told. No arguing with teacher or thick ears all round. Those were the days!!!

  • One occasions you find a gem on YOUTUBE this is on of them. Superb!

  • hi, apparently so. may i ask, do you know the soundtrack to this video

  • wow, as a teacher, in primary and my mum went to this school, i feel kinda sad, like life goes fast like a vapour, and times gone by. thanks for this
