Practices walk, steering, stand, & trotting to handler's voice, whip cues and body language. 2 yr. old Arabian/Percheron in his 8th ground driving session. Horse wears cavesson & surcingle; 14-foot driving reins are attached to siderings of cavesson (no bit.)

  • I totally agree with cedarvalleyfarm! I just looked up "ground driving" and "long lining" to send an example video to one of my students, and this video came up. I WISH that all horse trainers would do this for all horses and ponies to start, and from time to time. Thanks for being so brilliant.

  • @alexandramillerliss Thanks for your comments! The horses we have ground driven are VERY tractable, and I feel they benefitted a lot from it in terms of trusting and respecting people all around them. Now we drive this horse and his older brother as a pair, just yesterday we drove them up Mt. Washington Auto Road (videos soon!)

  • i love seeing people do proper ground work with equines it makes it so much easier on them and you plus you can start training long before the are ready to ride -wonderful job with this horse
