I think one episode would only last 30 mins if the slowmo's were played in realtime. Only managed to watch 10 mins of the 1st episode when we turned it off and decided to return it to the store for another serie. There is a big crowd for this kind of filming, but if you disliked the movie "300" this will not be your show.

No it gets pretty good, like most shows it takes awhile to get into it. took me a couple episodes. and i think the effects get better on season two and three.
