@Richiesutherland : I agree in several observations you pointed but you cannot sing Beethoven great aria for concert like Ponchielli's Gioconda. She was always a very refined singer , she knew the great manner and style, etc. Likewise the person who uploaded the video has cut it, I had the recording complete and in my copy the voice is better recorded, it is from another source

I don't miss any drama here, however, as this is at the very end of Tebaldi's career, she was very careful not to force in the lower middle register, where there was a diminution of the formerly great volume (in the last years, she was much more careful about her chest voice than in the Gioconda days). And this means that some of the dramatic phrases softer. However, she sings much more in the classical style than did Callas, less verismo.

@lamusicahera If you miss drama in this aria, you should listen to the Callas version. Her voice is torn, but her singing is very dramatic.

The correct year is 1974,of course.All concert is filmed in colour.The film"La Diva"by John Hartnett includes this concert plus interview with Renata.Maybe somebody has this complete film?I have only few fragments in mediocre video quality...
