A Structure Fire in a 35 Unit apartment building summoned a second alarm for Mutual Aid 8:37 PM Wednesday evening.
The Palo Alto Fire Department along with Los Altos and Redwood City assisted Menlo Park Fire Department in dousing a fire on the border on Palo Alto & East Palo Alto. The fire located at
1779 Woodland Ave. Was stopped by the hands of skilled firefighters that averted what could
have spread into huge fire to what was kept to just one apartment unit and smoke damage throughout the building.
Later that night the Red Cross came to the rescue by aided over 60 of the residents providing lodging and food for the families and residents as cleaning crews will be busy cleaning the suet from the walls and restoring the interior of the fire scared and smoke damaged structure.
Fire inspectors have a good idea where to target their search and were already busy zeroing in
on the cause of the blaze, which was centered in and around Apartment # 34 , where most of
the damage was centered. All in all, firefighters are credited for saving the day for without their quick work the damages certainly would have been much worse.
