the video source is http://www.howautowork.com it about starting system components battery,cables,starter motor,flywheel ring gear,ignition switch,and also about starting action itself
bro sorry am new to the starting system; but may i ask, from your video the current path actually comes from the fuse to the relay. Isn't is from the battery pos? or another source? In another words shouldn't it be when the ignition switch turns to start, the fuse (assuming it is after the ignition switch) would be placed between the switch and relay? To prevent high surge? Hope you could correct me if i'm wrong. Also would it be better to place the fuse between the source (battery) and switch?
but the key is on the " on position" , red cable hooked to pos part on batt. then tap the bottom left bolt where the tiny black wire is hooked up, then it starts.
@DtoWnSux1 THE STARTER BOLTS ARE LIKE THIS ON MINE***^
3 wires (13mm bolt)----------------> 0
red/purple wire (8mm bolt)------> o o<------------a thin black wire.(8mm bolt)
hope that helps describe it.Ive switched the bottom 2 wires around and with them like the way i have displayed, if i touch a red jumpercable to the battery,and tap the other side to the bottom right bolt(tiny black wire) then the car fires up.(starts w/o cranking it, just put in the on position and tap the cable
i dont know who wired the starter i have in a 2000 cavalier but it didnt start until i replaced the starter. on the starter it has 3 bolts to connect wires on to.
connections are as so:
top bolt- big red wire from battery,a red wire and a green wire
left bolt-wire that is red,spliced/meshed, into a purple wire(all just 1 wire, just 2 colors)
right bolt- is a thin black wire the starter bolts are like this on mine
