To all the people complaining about weapons in the game:

Weapons aren't OP in Chivalry. Criken is.

LOL, later it was. Monks had to scare knights with relics of the saints and convince them they'd go to hell if they raped and pillaged the peasants, because it was a big problem, and they couldn't figure that out on their own. Also peasants were serfs in a lot of places in Europe and were essentially made to farm the knight's land and weren't allowed to leave or they could be hunted down, I think I heard something like that serfs lived and died within a mile or two of where they were born.
