Flight of a balloon attached to a payload containing two cameras (one still, one video) and a phone with GPS tracking capabilities. The balloon was launched from Delafield, WI on 10/9/11 at 4:45 pm and was recovered about 3 hours later at a farm about 20 miles north.
This video was taken with the onboard video camera and recovered following the flight. The ascent rate was about 800ft/min, so this should correspond to about 12,000ft of ascent. We calculate that the balloon is likely between 81,000ft and 93,000ft during this video, during which the sun sets and moon is visible on the opposite horizon.
