@TransilvaniaROU Yes good handling and torquey all of my candidates have liked riding it. I bought Bridgestone bt55 tyres, my mate in the bike shop says these are the best choice....

I'm a bike instructor in WA. I use a GS500F (which has the fairing removed) for instructing and for over 250cc tests or R class....The L plates here are yellow and black.... (red and white where I'm from !) I'd like to pick brains about tyre choice best suited to learners... I'd agree that the single disc is more than adequate. My bike is black and silver although I would have prefered a ligher colour....any other instructors there ?

@saguaro23 I bought mine about a month ago for $2500 with only about 5000kms on it. Its an 06 and in perfect condition. I got a good deal, probably looking to pay $3500 normally. That's in Canada though, not sure where your from

He said it pretty clearly...
A lot of modern bikes have dual discs now, at least sports bikes do. Since 75% of your braking is from your front brakes, you want to have stopping power.
There's another side to that. When your brakes are TOO good, you can count on newbies high siding in a panic, and the Gs500 is geared toward newer riders...
In the end, if you don't ride like an idiot, you'll be fine, safe and having fun.
