This is a conceptual animation of what our civilization may look like in the future. The circular lights are large cities filled with people. Look at large cities from above at night and you can see the various shapes of city lights. Good examples of circular city lights are Atlanta, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida.

  • That's one minute of my life I'm never getting back.

  • I'm sorry you feel that way "nowherebrain". I appreciate the video bc it gives us an idea, perspective, and a conceptual view of what collections of our civilization on earth would look like. Also, the reason why the cities look like a bunch of circles is because apparently there will have to be many big cities right next to each other. If you take a look at big cities from above at night you'll see... I also appreciate movies, animation, and expression... This is like a glimpse into the future.

  • Okay. So in the future our lights look like circles. And?

  • It's your opinion, I wouldnt care. -_-

But the thing is... if there were many big cities right next to eachother, we'd have to start building up instead of spreading out. So instead of circles, I'd expect cylinders (somewhat..). AND you get the idea, just speaking my mind...

  • We would have to go up, eventually... But this is depicting before that happens. This is depicting the growth of cities like we have now, growth of our civilization as we know it. .... In the distant future, you can "expect" other ways of human life that are different than how we live now. This is not being depicted in a future that distant.

  • thats after or before the battlestar galatica fleet found us, the thirteen colony?

  • where are the space ships and huge cities?

  • huge cities. is there space for food production?

  • Why does this say "NASA Animation"? What does NASA have to do with this? Did NASA produce this video? Did the uploader produce it? There's no source given.

  • @peonpiate

This is a depiction of the future. Your judgements are based on our current limitations. Try not to overthink it.

  • @Xxero0

Um geometry must not be your strong suit. Cylinders viewed from above would appear as circles..

  • i like how the video is so optimistic, it has MASSES of cities everywhere, likely with tens of millions inhabitants...and yet outside the cities its all perfectly green and forested. Yea, sure. Even today Suburbs of our large cities destroy neighboring forests...And thats not likely to change in the future. Large Brown spots outside the cities would be more realistic. Brown since that is the sludge of pollution and sterile land outside the cities.

  • we should refuse to many good things if we want the world to last longer
