BNSF light engines went through Ex- Santa Fe Monrovia depot and headed to Irwindale, CA from Arcadia, CA. Even there's no customer between Arcadia and Monrovia, somehow train shows up and keep running this old Santa Fe 2nd district. (believe or not, the chief, Amtrak Desert Wind, & Santa Fe 3751 used to run this line.)

Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension supposed to be open in 2009 but the construction has not even started yet. They should have switched to Metrolink instead! BNSF(2472, 2553, 2468)

  • dam those were the good times seeing that santa fe engines pass by while at school at santa fe lol

  • @Aquafino1241 yea, not anymore. but this coming Sunday, the BNSF Xmas train coming to the city of Hope in Duarte one last time.

  • I used to live in Arcadia and watched the Chief, the Super Chief and the El Capitan run through town. Around 10 on weeknights, an eastbound local would come down the grade from Pasadena (the track down the middle of the 210 has since been torn out). I don't know whether it was the turbochargers on the Geep 35's or dynamic brakes, buy there was a high pitched whine that set the coyotes howling up in the Monrovia Hills east of the Santa Amita Wash. So we would hear first coyotes, then that whine,

  • @electroscribe Nice. Thanks for sharing your memories. I'd love to see the Chief going through there but now we'll have Metro Gold Line near the future.

  • Nice GP30 in the lead! The nose still has the older ATSF style herald on it, thats awesome!

  • Thanks!
