I cut that top and flipped it over then welded it back. That created the bowl to add sand. I welded a large bung on it also , about 2.5 inches . I also reuse my sand with a large sifter I made that attaches to the top of the bowl. Feel free to ask any other questipons . I have been using this solidly for two years with no problems.
